Can anyone "honestly" tell me what it takes to make one of these trannies rip a new ass?

At WOT mine shifts sometimes at 3.5k, sometimes 4k, rarely close to 5k. And the electronic lockup on 3rd and OD sometimes refuses to disengage under throttle.

All in all, if I ran it in the 1/4 I'd have to say AT LEAST 2 seconds of the run would be contributed to tranny stupidity.

CAn you say, shift kit? a tranny cooler works well to keep the fluid colder so it'll improve fluid life and quality. Mine at WOT shifts at about 5100 rpm consitantly, at least when I'm not bouncing off the rev limiter... sounds like there might be a pressure problem, if its shifting so irradically....if you're running in a 1/4 mile, whats the o/d still doing on? you should only use the 1-3 gears... using o'd will cause problems with hte life of your tranny...
Check you fluid quality... its a synthetic, so it shoul last a long time, but if its gritty, then you might be looking at a rebuild, since the clutches might be worn out..that could be your shift problem....

Nope, I have never ran it on the track. Who has time? Not me at least. I was only saying that from speculation. I've got 67k miles on it. Had a new tranny put in at 45k. The owner before me tore up 2nd in the original. This tranny shifts the same as the original did. After the tranny swap it didn't bounce on the rev limiter anymore. But then again, it rarely makes it to 5200.

I'm simply talking about how it acts daily driving. On the street, on the tollway, and not gettin it to downshift when a Mustang GT comes up on me.

Shift kits.... what's the best on to go with and what all is in the kit? Recommended syn fluid?

I think the most popular R/T shift kit and it may be the only one for what I know is the trans-go shift kit. A very popular choice for fluid is Amzoils line of synthetic lubricants.

If its not DOwn shifting properly, and a new tranny was installed sounds like it must be a TV cable adjustment...
heres a link in how to do it...

http://www.intense-dakota.com/tips%20and%20tricks%20pages/tv_cable_adjustment_for_v6_and.htm

KRCPerformance.com sells shift kits at good prices, but I'd try the TV adjustment first, sounds like they forgot to do it when they replaced your tranny...

Jeremy,
I cost me right at $1000 to upgrade the tranny in my 2000 R/T. I bought a 2400 RPM stall conv and the Trans Go shift kit from KRC. I also bought a Moroso trans-cooler and mounted to the crossmember, after frenching a hole in the skid plate for air flow. I also had the bands replaced, but not a complete rebuild. I bought the parts and I had a local shop do the labor. Like I said, I spent about $1K, By the way, the best mod I've done! It helps recapture a bunch of power lost in the the stock drivetrain!
Launches super, and no more sloppy shifts! Knowing what I know now, I'd never keep the transmission stock!
Hope my experience helps your decision.

If your transmission isn't making it to 4800rpm every shift, then you should look into adjusting the TV cable which controls the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, or else you may have a bad valve body. My truck had problems during two periods where it would shift early at random points, bounce off the rev limiter, etc. - the valve body was replaced twice under warranty and both times it fixed the problems.

You can get an aftermarket valve body from www.apsprecision.com or www.thefastman.com, it would probably be cheaper than another Mopar OEM model.

Found the Trans-Go at KRC Performance?

They have 3 converters:
Mopar
Viper 9.5"
KRC 2800+

Any recommendations?
