Subject: 5200 rpm Cutoff?!?!

any one know how to bypass this? I have a 2001 Dak R/T, only mods are: K&N FIPK, 180 deg thermostat, aux tranny cooler, IAT relocation, adjusted Throttle sensor to .07v, other various minor mods. UNDER full acceleration, I slam into that 5200 cutoff before I hit second gear..what can I do to (FIRST KILL teh engineer that designed this stupid idea) bypass this? I've seen add-on computer parts, but spending 400 bucks to override a stupid factory idea is a little off to me.

Depending on what year your truck is, there is an updated governor pressure sensor to cure your rev limiter before shift problem.

oh, yeah. that'd help.... my truck is an 2001...I know about the TSB on the pre 98's, I had one of those too, had the same issue...I thought Dodge was using the "better replacement" on all the post 98 trucks due to this issue. There's gotta be an easy way to electronically override this, if a computer can think it, something can trick it.

my other mods are: K&N FIPK, IAT relocation, 180 degree thermostat, TPS adjusted to .7v ( was thiniking this might be the problem since it only started up after I did all these mods, going to tone it down to .65V to see if that fixes it) accel 3923 plugs, aux tranny cooler, s bolt for TB hat....Removing clutch fan tomorrow...dont need it with the 180 thermo it never kicks into use, my electric fan hardly kicks on unless I use my a/c (and I Live in MIAMI!) ALl my mods were done in the first week of owning the truck, and I even reset the PCM after doing it, since the TBS was changed...
I was considering a shift kit, anyone thing this might eliminate the issue? I was thinking a sharper shift point might do the trick...just a thought///

A shift kit will not alter the rev limiter. The stock pcm is programmed to do a fuel cutoff at around 5200 because after some use the stock valvetrain (mainly the valve springs) is only good to about mid-5000 and above range before the valves will begin to float. The MP PCM's rev limiter is good to about 6000 rpm but since you have an 01 that is not an option. Your option for raising the rev limiter is, as you stated, a customized programming of the stock pcm or an aftermarket "adjustable" computer. Either way if you going above 5500 often you'll have to beef up the valvetrain.

Isn't there anything that you can remove/change? Yea, it'll probably be expensive and most likely require and entire engine overhaul, but there has to be some way to eliminate the limiter.

Yeah, but a shift kit would allow me to alter the shift point of the tranny, avoiding the rev limiter...I upgraded the ignition today, it seems to have stopped, for the time being... the factory cap and rotor had some serious build up on the contact points...I plan on redoing the valve train when I can afford the roller rocker conversion...
