i have an 01 r/t cc. i want to do something different with my pcm. from what I understand I can not get a mopar pcm in 01, 00 was the last year soooooo, should i do something like a jet chip or a programmer (superchips or hypertec)? i am looking for performance but i don't wish to sacrafice mpg very much if possible. here are my mods. thanks for any advice.

jba shorty headers, split dual cat back exhaust, removed radiator flap, tps set at .76 dcv, autolite 3923's, accel 8.8 mm plug wires, dual cold air intake.

planning on doing a thermostat, aftermarket ignition (accel or msd), coil, and tonneau cover soon and a torque converter this summer.

Whats your gas mileage now? Mine like 13 with headers, exhaust, m1, f&b 52mm throttle body, 1.7 rr, cold air, plugs and 180 t-stat. I went with a BG flash in my 03 but you have to use premium fuel. With the hypertech I think you can use regular but the flash was probally the best bang for the buck. As long as you just cruise around you gas mileage should be about the same as your getting now. But if you have a lead foot the mileage will reflect that. Speed costs money have fast do you want to go how much money do you have. Also, you should do any mods if your concerned about gas mileage.

my average is pretty low because I am always in the throttle. i think the trip computer, at it's highest point, i got 14.7 mpg average or about 250 miles out of my 16.3 gallon tank. when i bought it, the thing said 11.5 mpg average. last tank was 12.8 average or so. i said i didn't want to sacrafice mileage, i didn't say i WOULDN'T..... i'll probably go superchips i think. see how it is. sending out my pcm and getting another to use while i wait for the flash is a bit much for me, plus i gotta swap em everytime i go to the dealer, not a big deal but it doesn't interest me that much. thanks.

Kev. Just do some research before you make a decision. The flash can advance your timing up to 36 degrees and eliminate your torque management system which the supertuner or hypertech can't do. Also, Kenne Bell does something but the take longer I shipped my computer out Monday and was driving the truck Wednesday morning.

I highly recommend getting the bulk of your engine built up and then sending it out for a custom flash. I've heard the hypertech and superchips programmers don't alter the curves all that radicaly. When you send it off to be flashed, they program it for your setup. It is optimized for your engine which considers all modifications you've made to it. IT takes longer and is more expensive, but definatly worth it.

Hey Kev? I noticed that your mods list includes "removed radiator flap". What does that do, and did you remove all of it or just to get cooler intake? thanks.

there is a rubber flap on the passenger side of the radiator that is put there to force air through the radiator instead of letting it pass around it. if you remove it the colder air can enter your engine compartment unrestricted and it won't disturb the radiator's cooling effeciency. it's just a cheap way to get a little colder air in the engine comp. it is held in with 3 or 4 plastic plugs, you can take them out and remove it, if you don't like put it back. you will not feel any difference in performance but, you know that it slightly different.
