What exactly are the advantages of an electric fan over the stock one. Does it really give that much more power or are they over rated? Let me Know. Thanks

Advantages-- you have better control over your engines cooling (t-stat setup, and or a manual switch). I sell the Viper fan kits for the 97-99, and 00+ Dakotas. (the 97-99 is still being fitted, then will be available complete with all wiring, relays, etc. etc. ready to install w/ instructions)

I run one on my 00 RT, and it has made a difference in both performance (1/4, and fuel economy)-- plus my truck runs a lot cooler... I have it set to turn on like the OEM factory fan would (00+), and I also have a manual switch so I can have it stay cool- indefinately.

The viper fan draws as much air through the radiator as you would driving at 75 MPH on the fwy--- It works that well (and that's on low spee-- the viper fan is a 2 speed, but honestly, I don't bother with HI-- it draws a lotta amps, and is unnecessary).

Email me if you would like more info/pricing or just to get on the waiting list for the release of the 97-99 kit.

To add to that, an electric fan eliminates the standard clutch fan. As the clutch fan is driven by the motor, this eliminates some additional drag on the motor...especially during those times when the fan would actually kick in. Different people report different results in switching to an electric fan. Some say that there was a noticable improvement...via their highly calibrated butt-dynos. Others say that it wasn't a noticable change. Either way, as rtdkota stated, you will be able to keep the engine running nice and cool regards of how fast you are going.

I have to agree. They make an improvement. I would love to switch out my clutch fan but im strapped for cash currently. Keeping your engine cooler and well ventilated even during low speeds is always a good idea.

On an essentially stock small block Ford, an electric fan is worth 6-10hp across the band. I would imagine that a Dodge wouldn't be that much differant.

If you're moving slow and it's hot, the electric fan moves enough air to keep things cool.

The trade off is your engine has to produce the electricity to run the fan, and that takes engine power. Not a bad thing, just a trade off. If you have the HD service group, it won't be much of an issue.

When you're moving above 40mph or so, you can shut the fan off. There is less engine drag, and it will be quieter.

Sam,
I checked the site but don't see the Viper Fan listed. Probably part of the overhaul. Anyway, what is the price on it? Are you also selling some sort of install kit that comes with replacement coolant overflow and washer fluid tanks? Also how easy is the wiring. I imagine you just run a relay of the main fuse panel then switch it from there, but what about hooking it into a thermocouple. I think I've seen some installs where the fan comes on automatically with the AC and at 200 (not 215 like the stock e-fan).
