 Subject: Beat a Space Shuttle

I'm the proud owner of a 1997 Dakota 3.9 Club Cab Sport. Those damn idiots down at NASA went and got themselves a brand new space shuttle. Is there anything I can do to my V-6 truck to beat this thing? I will not be shown up by these government types.

Yeah, you need to convert your dakota. you need to add rockets to the back, i would use the ones off of a SR71 Black bird, then you need wings too,
if you get that stuff you can win.

All you need to do is make sure your tires have the proper air pressure(especially the rears) andput in a helix power tower and that shuttle is toast. Lets just hope it holds together better on reentry. Don't bother posting all your replies to my last statement.

well, if the new space shuttle is as good as the last generation of orbiter vehicle you should have no problem beating it since it'll probably blow up after a 1/2 mile. that is if a piece of foam or something hits it..

All you have to do is mount your truck on the nose of the shuttle before lift off. All they will see is your tail-lights. Better yet, no matter how fast it goes you will still be out in front.

What new orbiter?
Hell, I work for NASA and even support the manned space missions, but I haven't heard anything of a new orbiter.
There are only 3 STS's left in the fleet, so a replacement is definitely due, but things like that take LOTS of time.
If there really is talk of a new orbiter, do tell us everything you know about it.

Oh yeah, there actually is one way to beat the space shuttle in a race.
Strap your Dakota to a Saturn V rocket. It takes a speed of approximately 17,000mph to escape earths gravity, but it takes speeds much higher than that to travel to the moon or to other planets. The Saturn V is what enabled us to go to the moon. The Space Shuttle can only achieve a maximum altitude of 600 miles.
I'm tellin ya, the Saturn V would be an incredible upgrade to your V6 Dak.

There is a new hanger on KSC for something undisclosed. North, by the runway. Talk is that there will be new upper level in the VAB retrofitted for 2 more segments to add to the current SRB stacks to increase the payload to 5 million lbs of thrust from the current 3.5 million lbs. Don't hold your breath, they are destacking and chipping K5 for now, for a Utah inspection. This info is declassified public info, BTW...
So you need to only drive your V6 Dakota to be faster than the Space Shuttle.
