Subject: V8 Throttle body or Performance?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a '98 V6 and looking for a throttle body. I have gotten a price on a stock V8 Throttle body (50mm with 48mm step) for $100. I know that the Billet or F&B generally run $250 give or take a little. Is the difference worth the extra money, more than double the price actually? I am looking for all the power I can get, but for $150 difference I can get something else small. Just want to know if the Power Gains are worth the money. I have Airaid intake, Superchips Power Programmer, Flowmaster 40 series, 8mm wires, napa cap & rotor, Autolite 3923's. What is my best bet? Am i on the right track? what should come next also? Looking at different injectors. Any ideas and info would be greatly appresiated. Thanks in advance.

Matt

The F&B will run you $350 to $400 I think. I paid around that
much.

V8 throttle bodies supposedly can kill low end torque, and I'd go w/ headers next.

You need to get your MAM caled. . The only way do do it right is to use a OME MAM .and install proper transfer function ( Voltage vs mass flow values ) for the new meter chip that you have installed.. almost every functiom of the Eng. is effected by this. OFF hand I do not know anyone who does Chip recal.
