Trailblazer has 275hp, while the R/T has 245hp, but I think the main diff. is the torque produced by a V6 and V8. The trailblazer, might be faster in a 4X2, however I think the 0-60 is around 8.0sec, while the R/T is around 7.5Sec. I know for a fact that the R/T Durango is AWD w/ low range. I would buy the R/T not only because I am a faithful Mopar fan, but also the wide aftermarket products available for the 5.9L V8 versus the V6

It looks like the Trailblazer is a direct attack on the durango. To bad Gm doesnt know how to do anything right.

The rt has 250 Horsepower and 345 torque
and it also has a faster 0-60 then 7.5
sorry bud.

The trailblazer has horse power but no
torque and if you ever saw one they
look ugley and huge I raced my friend in
his moms new trailblazer and theres
no way that thing could beat an rt
even with a head start

I would sure like to see time slips on the R/T 0-60 if it is "a lot" faster than 7.5s, I know for a fact that it runs about 14.5-14.8 in the 1/4 mile, when the 4.7L 4X2 runs about 14.8-15.1s on the 1/4. I've seen time slips for both at the track

i like the durango better too, i own one,but the trailblazer gets a 7.7 o-60 time, not eight. so the race would be closer than you think. in all other aspects of suv's, the durango absolutly rules the tblazer.

GM has not learned that in a truck it is the torque not the HP... Mother Mopar has known and practiced this for years... GM jsut calims to have the highest HP.... Bif freaking deal.. I have more HP than you... but it is all about torque... diesel torque....

Of course in January you will be able to get the 5.3 v-8 in the trailblazer and envoy extended versions (compare better to the Durango). And in 2004 you will be able to get the 5.3 in a Buick short wheelbase model (compares better to the Grand Cherokee). A Grand Cherokee and the standard 4.7 (not the HO 4.7) out runs any of the trailblazer clones in every comparision road test done. Grand Cherokees are lighter and therefore faster then Durangos, so an average Durango may be pretty even with a Trailblazer.

I thought they were only offering the 5.3 V8 in the extended Trail Blazer? You know, the heavier one? The one that will, in effect, cancel out the extra power of the V8 with its added weight? But then again, I don't keep up on my Chevy facts too well becase as you may have noticed...this is a Dodge site.

I test drove one and came up with a new name for the GM truck "TrailWheezer". 'Cause the V6 sounded like it had a hard time moving the thing. But my Durango feels like it will rip you a new one and at least sounds good while doing it.

Ok, first off chevy needs to learn that torque needs to be made at lower rpms if its ever gonna be worth a dam.Second yes they are coming out with a v-8 in the trailblazer it is the 5.3, and will only be available in the extended heavier version. And lastly god i hate chevys, simply put.

I was given a trailblazer also at work (I own a 01 R/T)and I thought it felt a little low on power on the low end. I lined up with a friend who ownes a 4.7 Durango and to my surprise the trailblazer had 1/2 a truck on the durango when we shut down at 80 mph and it was starting to walk slowly at that point. My friend was a little dissapointed so I am going to look at it and see if his Durango is running o.k. Before they gave me the Trailblazer they had me driving a 4.8 Silverado and I thought it felt faster than the Trailblazer, but my R/T will rip both of them. On a side note, have you guys seen the Trailblazer SS with the 345 hp, 380 lbs of torque Chevy has been showing around? It's in all the mags this month, word is they are building it. My wifes XL7 got stollen a few weeks ago, I just might consider waiting on getting her somthing till it comes out.

I don't have any input on the trailblazer but I have a 5.9 2x4 Durango that runs a 10.21 in the 1/8th (which translates to 15.91 in the quarter)that may not sound fast to you RT Dak guys but for a 5000lbs SUV thats saying something! That run was made with heavy 20 inch RT wheels also..so if the trailblazer can beat that with no nitrous or supercharger and only bolt-ons then my hats off! BTW, when I get my 4.10 gears and 100hp shot of nitrous I should be in the high 14's.. and I still have a third row seat...

A co-worker of mine has a Trailblazer as a rental while her Silverado is in the body shop.

I think it is a very nice vehicle. It is a different improvement over the blazer. It is very roomy in both the front and back seats. I'm 6'1 and had plenty of leg, head, and shoulder room. I do think they have a winner on their hands. I also think the Trailblazer is physically bigger than the current Durango.

My co-worker is not the type to "line 'em up" so we haven't squared off. However, she says her girlfriend’s 4.8L Silverado will walk away from her 5.3L Silverado. Both are 4x2's, auto, extended cab, step sides. The only difference I can think of is the rear end gears.

I know this strays a bit from the topic and the board, but oh well.

You have to remember, most people don't watch the tack or any of the other gauges as far as that goes. They don't care where the power comes from as long as it goes. The average car only needs a gas light and a speedo and drive (D) park (P) and reverse (R)> They don't even kow what the others are. I'v seem that a lot of people buy cars for consumer reports, insure rates, and whats wrote on paper. My mom can spot a 50% off sale sign from 10 miles away but can't see the oil light. Just my thought.
