Subject: Superchips tuner + Nitrous ?
IP: Logged

Message:
Anyone running nitrous with the superchips tuner. I emailed superchips to get the info on how much they upped the timing so i can retard it when im running juice. This is what they had to say!
"no the tuner will not work with nitrous and I cannot release the timing specs.

Anyone know how much it ups the timing and if a 100 shot will mess anything up. I advanced the timing 5 degrees and juiced it last time i was at the track, so i wouldnt think the tuner would advance it more then that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i thought one was suppose to retard the timing when using nitrous. You would probably only use the superchips tuner only for the shift points and shift firmness if possible.

Retarding the timing is correct if your running lean or your engine is detonating. My truck is running rich and im not detonating. There is alot of variables in the middle like fuel octane and so on. Basically for more hp you want to run as much timing as you can get with nitrous before the motor cant handle it. Same goes when your not running nitrous. For example most R/T's like 8 degrees of advancement on a n/a setup. So taking that into affect as your basline you can retard the timeing 2 degress from that to play it safe while running nitrous. Thus the 5 degree of advancment and me running a 100 shot without any issue.

The issue now is if im running 5 degree of advancment and the tuner bumps it up say 8. That is 13 degrees which will cause detonation on a n/a setup let alone a nitrous setup so motor would go boom. Im probally just going to get me a timing light and go from there with a base line at 0 degrees then add the superchips tuner and test the timing then tune it from there.
