I've heard it said on here before that if you run an exhaust w/o cats that it will screw up the exhaust note, how so, because old muscle car exhausts don't have cats and they sound great. Also, is there any performance gain from goin w/ a no cat setup?

Yes it makes it louder. I run dual exhaust no cats and its way loud. Yes there is some gain in HP too. Id say 5-10 depends on mods.

runnin without cats screws with your PCM and how it funtions with the O2 sensers and actualy reduces power, plus, do you really want to suck in dirty air in your lungs for a no power increase change?

Cats rob power, plugged or not. Legal issues and screwing up the air/fuel ratio is the concern.

The most common mod on mustangs is to replace the factory catted midpipe with a non catted offroad pipe. This produces big gains on those cars but the o2 sensors that control the proper air/fuel mixture are factory placed before the cats so that the car still runs the same whether it has cats or not. May not be the same for daks though.

Well if we get all environmental about the air than the cat reduces your miliage so you are wasting more gas and that can't be good for the environment(sp?) hehe
