Subject: Parts needed fo Dakota's?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey Dakota owners. I have a 2002 Dakota quad cab. My original baby is my 2001 Stratus Sedan. I am an admin over at www.2gss.org.

My reason for posting here is that I currently own and operate www.F-5Performance.com. I make parts for the Stratus Sedans.

Now that I have a Dakota I am thinking of making parts for it. I am trying to get a feel of what parts are already being made and if you guys are interested in any parts.

I don't mean to step on any toes here so please tell me if I am and I will not bother you guys. On the other hand, competiton is a good thing.

My first project will be an intake system for all the engines in the Dakotas. 2001 and up will be my primary target audience. I intend on making intakes for the 3.9 up to the 5.9L engines. Let me know if there is any interest in these parts.

Thanks

Robert

Mag or alum oil fill necks to replace the stock plastic ones, you`d sell a ton. Or an isulated one or an insulator kit.

4.7L parts please!!!! Motor dress-ups (pulleys, prefab hoses, valve/cam covers, Oil fill, etc), intakes (pre and post TB) and any EFFECTIVE performance parts. Right now KRC is the only source I've found for 4.7L performance parts and they have no dress-up parts other than an Airraid kit.

Wow, you guys sound like us Stratus owners. Nobody makes anything for the Stratus. I got my tester for the V6 and V8 Dakota/Durango intakes today. I will post a link to them once I get them made. Depending on how the intakes go I will move on to better things.

I have horror storeies about having a UDP made for the Stratus. I can have them made but I would need some buyers that would be willing to actually buy them.

Well, I sure as hell wouldn't want any of those HOT air intake tubes you sell.
C-R-A-P!

Better off with stock or HOMEBREW so you can make sure you get TRUE outside the hood air.

We need REAL performance. I hung out on some of the (asec) guys on other boards. had a 1998 Cirrus until recently. A lot of those (kids) like the intake tubes. The NOISE it makes under the hood makes them think they have more power.
The same kids who put fake dual exhasut on and fake hood scoops all on their I4 and V6 FWD cars.
STUIPID!

Now come up with a PCM reprogrammer, underdrive pulleys, stuff that shows gains on a DYNO and you will sell here!

Wow, your power of assumption is second only to your lack of knowledge and your bad attitude. Your the reason no companies make anything for the Dakotas or Durangos.

First of all, the Stratus intake design was requested to be that way, second, go look under the hood of a stratus. There is no room to get the filter out of the engine compartment without cutting into the car which 98% of my customers would prefer not to do. This is the reason for the SRT-4 style hood that is being made as I type this by www.Streetconcepts.com and plumbing to the filter to create an actual ram air hood to get the cool air to the filter. These are the types of things that I can do or have made. I don't make C-R-A-P. Before you call my products crap, look under your own hood. My pipes are all 6061 polished aircraft grade aluminum and even though its does take in engine compartment air, I do have dyno runs to prove performance increases.

Don't EVER assume what I can or will make. I came over here offering up my services to you guys because I know what its like to not have aftermarket support. If you don't want it then thats fine. Keep your PVC and aluminum foil intakes. I don't care either way. You are like all the other "bolt on boys" that want all these parts made by some other company so all you have to do is bolt it on and go. Well, that is what I am offering so you can give me constructive feedback or keep your mouth shut.

If you wanted performance you should have bought a Viper and not a truck.

f5-- dont worry about graphite, he is our online-town ass hole that thinks he knows what he is talking about. Sometimes he does, but usually he is just trying to sound cool. I also think home construction is bad if you do it wrong (like graphite does) but if you do it right, it looks good and functions well. I dont have a stratus, but an intake for a 2001 300m would be cool.

I don't hate "graphite" but I think its rude to go off on someone that could be making the very part you want so badly. As you guys will learn (I hope) I am easy to work with and more than happy to have parts made or make them myself. I have accumulated a vast array of tools over the past two years I have been making Stratus parts. I run this whole operation out of my home but I have a lineup of vendors who will make what I want. I have an autocad guy who can draw up the image files for the UDP. The computer mods will be harder simply because so few people really want them (They say they do and never put down the cash) and they usually cost alot of money but I will see what I can do. I will need to see the fuel/air curve and tranny shift points and determine where they need to change.

I agree, constuction is key and all my intake pipes will be hand polished and available in colors as well. You will not see bent aluminum piping in my intakes. Its very expensive to get mandrel bent aluminum pipe. I can make them less expensive that way too and that is good for the buyer becasue they are less expensive. Once I bring these truck parts online my Stratus parts will drop in price to match simply becasue I will be ordering more.

I went to www.forwardmotioninc.com and they don't have anything for my Straus Sedan but that does not surprise me at all. So few companies see the potential in that car.

You guys have lots of good ideas and like I said, I will start with the intake and a Magnaflow setup since I make intakes and am a Magnaflow reseller and see how it goes. If the interest is high enough then I will go into other parts. The Short Ram Intake (C-R-A-P)will be the first one made. Simply because that is what soe people want. Once that is completed I will make the CAI extension. I have my two tester dakota/durango's all day today so I should be able to post some pictures soon.

theres something for the stratus r/t but i guess you are right... probably only works with the 3.0 and not the 2.7 in your four door.

i would give em a call... they carry/make a lot more than just what they advertise

Hey F5, I've been told by several shops (Hypertech for one) that there are no gains to be had on the 4.7L with just PCM reprogramming and no one will currently match the fuel curve to and aftermarket cam on an 01 and up(I actually want this for an 03). I've also not been able to find anyone who can even tell me if there are gains to be had proportionate to the dollars spent. Maybe that's why no one is doing the fuel curve is that it's expensive for just a small improvement, but I'd like to know for sure. I'm running KRC's 206 cams BTW. I picked up about .8 seconds in the quarter just from these cams, so they do work well, but there are times when I'm driving in third under moderate acceleration when it actually accelerates harder as I begin to back out of the throttle. Makes me think tweaking the fuel curve could really make a difference. It also seems a little rich at idle based on the exhaust smell, or maybe this motor just smells a little rich compared to the 4 banger I used to drive. Anyway, PCM reprogram?

Sorry, I should have finished your posts before I wrote mine. Never mind. "If you wanted performance you should have bought a Viper and not a truck."?
If we had that kind of money we wouldn't need asshats like you to hook us up with parts for starters. We'd just have them drawn and built by a local shop. Further, if you feel that way, why are you here, and why would we ever believe you are interested in selling us what we want (Performance parts for our trucks)?
You question our sincerity(They say they do and never put down the cash), our ability (like all the other "bolt on boys") and the quality of our rides(Keep your PVC and aluminum foil intakes).
Their are some egotistical asses on here, but your the first I've ever seen come on here and so blatantly blast what most of us here are all about and not get flamed continuously. Well, you didn't slide under my BS detector and I wish you'd take your aggressive, insulting (so you can give me constructive feedback or keep your mouth shut) narcissistic (9 of 14 sentences start wih 'I' or 'my' in your first post) C-R-A-P somewhere else. Even if you do have something to offer, I'm no longer interested.

Hey man, relax. I came over here and politely offered up my services to you guys and Graphite showed his ass so I responded in kind. I also responded in a much more mature manner than I should have I think. That was directed at him, not the whole club. Nobody else took it that way. If you guys don't want the parts then that is fine. I will make what I need and want and chalk the rest up to experience. I never said you guys wouldn't be able to pay either. I said that was my past experience. From a business stand point I can't afford to have people interested in seeing something made and not buying it. I was just offering my services to a group that I gathered did not have that much aftermarket support. Just like the group I come from.

Damn, you guys need to relax a bit. Nothing in my first posted warranted the crap I got from Graphite and my second post was directed at him and everyone took it that way but you. Geez.

Why limit yourself to 01+ what about the 98-00 RT's, I'm sure they are similar to the 01+ but in the event they aren't for some reason don't forget about us we are nearly half the R/T owners.
