We've heard alot about the BFG M/T's .. Everyone likes um

We've heard alittle bit about the Pro-Comp XTerrains and looks like everyone really likes those..

What about the GoodYear M/TR's? Has anyone put a set on there Dakotas? I've heard that they are better then the BFG's but no one has really said much. Could someone clarify for me.. What do you think about the M/TR's?

I've heard they are quiet when new but get pretty noisy, but I guess it depends on how well you maintain them. 4wheeler magazine rated them very high. I've ridden in trucks with BFG MT's and it was pretty noisy, I hope these would be quieter or else my next set will be BFG AT's

Where's Quadman? he's got MTR's

Like I said before I really like them. Of course I may be a bit biased but I havn't had any one complain about them. In the magazine shootouts they have won top honors and are wearing very well.

I have the GY MT/R's 33x12.50x15 on my 01 QC. I've only had them for about a week and haven't had a chance to take them off road yet. So far I think they are awesome! They got the looks and handle great on road. I like the lugs on the side walls. Check out some pics at

I have had both the old MT and the MTR's both 33 12.5 on my 94 yj with work. I have also been around trucks with bfg's alot. I will tell you this, MT were a great mud tire for high speed, but loud on the road. MTR are even better in the mud, not as loud on the road and look awesome. Really good on rock also(friends worked cj-5 out here in colorado, my new home). For all my experiance with BFG's MT they aren't all that good, mostly a name with a high price, general grabber mT are just as good for half the price. Same truck, same driver, same mud pit, same conditons, I think the BFG MT and AT will perform about the same. But the GOodyear MTR will kick ass, and is no where near as loud as the BFG. As for wearing down noise I can't tell you, I sold my yj about two months after the new tires so I could get my 99 cc 5.2 liter dak.

When I was shopping for tires, I wanted to try something new. Die hard BFG nut. I was trying to decided between the MTR's and the X-Terrains. My decision was made when I got the price for each. I'm running X-terrians now. In other words, I think they are a very good tire and the only reason I dont have them was the price. When my X-Terrains finally wear out, I am considering the MTR's, price and all. Would like to have something to compare the X-T's to and the MTR is about the closest.

Ya, the Goodyears are a bit pricey. But that's the benefit of companies offering that they have the lowest price and they will beat any competiters prices. :)
Do some shopping around and go back to a couple of them a second time. You'll be surprised how bad they want your money

I like my BFG MT KM's. Not loud, although you can definitely hear them especially at low speeds. They treat mud & water like it's not even there. I haven't had the chance to take them in deep sand (just a little bit of soft sand), so I can't comment much on that. I probably would have bought the Xterrains, but I wanted a 32 inch tire...no 32 inch Xterrains.

Well actually the reason I'm considering them is because I called in a few favors @ the local tire place... and I'm going to end up getting them cheeper then I can the BFG's or XTerrains.
