I had a little time to tinker on the truck. It is finally chromeless. Had a spare can of black spray paint, so those nice shiny bolts on the front for my pre runner bar are now nice and black. So are the bright valve stems on my black rims. And so are those annoying bright shiny chrome tail pipes. Have to say, the tailpipes being black looks very cool. I know this post is of no technical value at all, I am just rambling. :-P

I've used so much spray paint on my truck it isn't even funny! My soldiers have grown used to seeing me in the parking lot at work on the weekends taping off various parts of my truck, spraying, applying herculiner...
When in doubt, say it with Krylon!

AHH Crap I was going to get you pictures of the nerf bars... I have um somewhere I'll see if I can dig them up. Not mounted on my truck.. but the nerfs them selves.

BTW I promise I will have some pictures of these nerfs.. I took some but they are all fuzzy and you can't really see them good. Don't get me wrong they do have some marks on them from rubbing on the boxes in shipping but if you want the flat black look (you and your krylon) then it won't even be a issue.

Hawk you still have that chrome V8 badge don't you? If it isn't black then I think all of us here would be a little dissapointed in you. Get out the Krylon and sray away!hahha. Those are black AR alloy rims for $35? Where did you say you got those from? By the way you need to update you Icon to the no chrome only black picture.

If I'm not mistaken, you can only get the black wheels in the 15x8 size for our trucks right? I tried to order 15x10's but noone made them.

Yes the V8 badge is still shiny but thats it. Nothing else. I am still getting everything back together from the accident so I havent taken any recent picks. Soon as its all back together and right I will be taking some new ones. Weather is warm enough to head back to the beach so it is definitely picture time again.

/me thinks it would almost be funny to find junked parts (tailgate, hood, old tyres, rims, gas door) at a wrecking yard, spray painting them chrome and replacing them on Hawkeye's truck when he is sound asleep.

The paint was just plain old semi-gloss black Krylon. Tail pipes dont get that hot so the paint is holding up fine. Better than I expected.
