I drove down to a little park by the river down the road form my house yesterday afternoon. Theres usually a few little mud holes to play in and there is a wet ditch at the bottom of a little hill by the road that I like to drive up. Always like to see if I can do it in 2wd. Usually a bit hard because either the ditch at the bottom is wet and when your front end gets up the hill your back tires are in the wet stuff and you loose traction (Can be a bit muddy somtimes), or your back tires make it through and you get the back tires on the hill, but it has very thick green grass that turns slick as glass under your tires and they just spin on top of it. Anyway, there is this other really nice looking 4wd Dak that is trying to go up. I pull in behind him waiting for my turn. I got a bit too close I guess because his tires (BFG MT's) broke loose in the mud and sent back some nice rooster tails, right on top of my hood. Wasnt done on purpose but it was a bit startling. Wasnt expecting it. Oh well, time for another bath for the truck.

By the way, the other guy did make it through and so did I.

DOH! lmao

You can wash the salt scum from my truck when you're done with yours, Hawk! ;o)

I might as well wait til spring to wash mine again ... wash it one day and it's all grubbed up the next.

Yeah, same here with the salt.

Hawk, luckily most of your dirt down there in the "Sunshine" is sand. Up here with my luck a big ole rock would have jumped through the windshield! LOL

LOL, I wish I had a place to play around my house and someone would throw mud on my truck instead of road salt and little rocks from the road sand. I really hate the sound of rocks richoceting off the front of my Dak. It is almost painful and you can't blame the person in front of you, unless they don't have mudflaps, then I tend to "draft" them until they move over outta harms way:)

Only sand here is at the beach. Everywhere else is dirt and mud with rocks and God knows what else in it. We ge some really bad mu here and it doesnt take much to make it. Luckily I just got a little bit of mud spray minus the rocks. It was funny when it happened though. I was laughing and so was the other guy!

Hawkeye,

Funny you should mention getting roostered. See, yesterday I happened to do that to someone...I was going up this little embankment by this river in 2WD to see if my new tires (32X11.5 BFG MT KM's) would grip wet grass and mud, and I ended up spraying the guy behind me with mud. Small World! He even had a lifted green quad cab! But the good news is that the tires look great under the new 3 inch lift that this friend from Jacksonville practically installed for me. If it hadn't been for him, I'd still be trying to figure out how to get the lower fan shroud off.

By the way, I put up a couple of the pics in my yahoo photo album.

I also updated the pic on my profile, but I haven't shrunk one down small enough yet for the thumbnail.

Now it all makes sense... Truck looks great Dan, I like that pic with both yours and Hawkeye's truck, looks like the trucks were just deployed for a serious mission, LOL. Need some pics in brighter light, can barely make out the tires/wheels from the body:) How long did take to get the lift in?

It took about 8 hours from start to finish, but if it hadn't been for Hawkeye I'd still be at it. Started around 8:30, had the blocks in by lunch, and finished in time for pics and a road test before the sun went down.

And even though I sprayed Hawkeye's truck, I really like the BFG MT KM's. For a tire with such an open design, they are fairly quiet. I'm also surprised that the truck doesn't feel sluggish...I expected it to feel all lazy because of my gearing, the taller tires, and the fact that I still need to replace my airhat to get rid of the kink in the hose off the airbox, but it feels fine. And my speedometer is only off by maybe 2 mph at 60, so I'm not going to bother with the superlift speedo correction thingy.

We were actually finished by around 5:00. That Stopped to go drop the tires off to be mounted, took about an hour lunch break, and the 30 minute fight with the fan shroud, but overall made pretty good time.

That's pretty good time with no air tools and the like. Need to set up "Urban Warrior Customs" as a weekend gig Hawkeye, nice extra cash and can be fun too! I have been doing it for over 5 years and have made some good tax free cash:)

Hawkeye & Dan

Couple quick question
Is the liner on your rocker panels color matched or black?
Did Rhino liners do that and if so how much did it cost?
Both of your trucks look great

Dan can give you more details as its his truck that its on. He used Herculiner. I know that Line-x can be used as I talked to my dealer about having it done myself a while back.

Big D,

As Hawkeye said, it's Herculiner and I did it myself. Just basic black...I wanted the contrast between the green paint and the black herculiner, and it matched the black wheels. It wasn't tough to do at all, just time consuming primarily because of the prep work...cleaning & stripping the surfaces, sanding, and taping took several hours. The actual application went quickly. The Herculiner kit is about $100, plus whatever else you spend for extra sandpaper, gloves, masks, tape, extra rollers, etc.

Just saw the other post on the off topic board. Nice pics!

As an aside, while the Security Police guy was checking my ID a couple of days ago when going on base, he gave my truck the once-over, looked impressed, then asked me "you do take this off-road, don't you? It'd be a waste not to." Every chance I get, dude. Then just this weekend when I was repainting my bumpers (say it with Krylon) two other SP's stopped and asked me a bunch of questions about the truck. Seems the appearance of my truck has struck a chord with the military law enforcement crowd.
