 Subject: 01 Dakota Susp. Rusted A-Frame mount

My sons 2001 Dodge Dakota suddenly had alignment and
steering issues followed with ‘Clunking’ coming from the front
end. We found the front passenger side top A-Frame mounts
rusted out right where the bolts go through. Re&re of the
whole welded on mounts seems risky considering the heat
generated weakens the frame and this location is a recipe for
disaster. It seems fabricating up a piece of steel with a
‘elongated hole for wheel alignments’ and welding it into the
bucket like location in these mounts seems feasible but still
labour intensive. Looking for words of wisdom from anyone
