 Subject: Leaf spring shackles

Hi I have a 2002 Dakota 4x4 and one of the leaf
spring shackles disentegrated. I managed to remove
the bolt from the bracket and remove what was left
of the shackle, but the bushing inside the spring
will not come out. I've hit it with an air impact
continuously and heated it with mapp gas but it
won't budge. This is with the spring still attached
to axle and front eye. I've decided to remove the
spring so that I can bang the bushing out; I got the
u bolts out and removed that part but that front eye
bolt will not come through the frame. Who's
changed shackles? Any tried and true methods?
