Subject: 1994 4x4 front posi?
IP: Logged

Message:
i am in the process of getting all my parts for my 1994 dodge dakota 4x4...
i have already bought the 3.90 ring/pinon with a sure grip posi differential for the back and the install kits with bearings and seals.
i also bought a motive 3.90 ring/pinon gear for the front with the install kit.
i still have to get the ring/pinion set up tool from jegs- so we do it right!!!
but now my friends and i are wondering if i can run a posi differential in the front or an electric locker or vacuum locker in the front.
so i am wondering what the best thing to do because i dont want to do this twice if i dont have to thanks chris
has anyone here done this? and what is recommended thanks

As long as the seals & bearings are in good condition and you are careful removing/ installing axles, you should be able to reuse axle seals & bearings.

Not sure if anything is available for the Dakota front diff. As far as sure grip, I'm almost positive there is nothing available. As for an a selectable locker...maybe check with Randy's Ring and Pinion...or the folks at Jeg's where you are getting the dial indicator? either should be able to tell you if a selectable locker is available. Let us know what you find out. And good luck with your project!

so i talked with motive gears and they said no one makes a posi for the 7.25 chrysler differential...
so then i called drivetrain specialists in warren, michigan and they said that no one makes a posi differential... they said its because of the small axle size on a 7.25 read end that most companies expected people just to up grade it to the 8.25
so then i looked into the arb kits and the eaton kits and there seems to be nothing...
well it seems like i will just have to live with the idea i will be three wheeling not four wheeling.
