Subject: Lift kit?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2000 dodge dakota 4x4 ex cad 6 cyl. that i would like to lift a bit. About three inches. I do not want to use a body lift but i also dont want to have to drop the front diff. to far either. I have done some searching and haven't found a kit that will only allow for maybe a one inch drop of the diff while allowing for a three inch raise of ride hieght. Is this even possible or is it a pipe dream.

i have done some research and i have decided on a 3" torsion key lift with 3" blocks in he rear. its doable for 200 bucks. 70 for keys, 30 for blocks and u bolts, 50-70 for alignment and a little extra for unseen things. i have not done this yet but am gonna try it. if it doesnt work ill return the stuff but its worth the shot and i havent found anything or anyone to say it wont work.

the only thing with that is how much stress will that put on the CV joints? I had done that with a gmc 1500 and wound up blowing a cv joint everytime i went into the woods. when are you planningon doing this i would like to here the results that it winds up giving you

now see...i dont plan on any hard core wheeling maybe a little mud eveynow and again. but other wise your only option is the skyjacker lift. the ifs is a bad set up anyways...its not made to wheel.

i wont be doing anything b4 then im stuck in iraq till next march with the marine corps. ya i know ifs suxs to wheel but im not trying to blow all the money itll take to do a solid axle swap. Not enough wheeling to justify it but enough to worry about the cv joints. Thanks for the info though and def still hit me back when you do get that done, id still like to hear how it went for ya

2" lift is about the max you want to go without relocating the diff down and I haven't seen anything short of a 4" lift kit that relocates the diff.

What transmission? They don't offer a suspension lift for a manual transmission. I'm sure someone could do it custom, but with lot's of $$$$$$
