Subject: Tire questions, desperate, need help!

Ok. My tires are bald on my 03 4x4 QC 4.7. I need new ones. I really want upgrade to 32". I want something that looks big and meaty like BF Goodrich All-Terrain that will be good offroad and look good, but not be terribly distracting on the highway. 1) I don't know how to read tire measurements. 2) What's a really good tire choice? 3)Can I fit 32's without the body lift or no? 4) What if I want different rims later? Will it be a problem to find ones that fit my new tires? Please someone be patient and help me out. Thanks so much.

The tires you mention are a great choice for something with a decent lug that isn't too noisy on the highway.

verdesardog - ever tried the Goodrich ? I had the tires you mention stock on a different truck, and found them to be noisier.

Kowalski, I not aware of any stock truck using revo's, they are a premium tire. Which goodrich tires are you talking about? I have had three or four sets of tires after the stock goodyears wore out, don't remember if I had any goodrich's. So far the Bridgestone revo's have given me the best handling, ride, noise level and wear. The tires I had before these revo's were Cooper Discoverer S/T's, they didn't wear long.

The All Terrains, as the poster mentioned.
They also wear well. If you had them, I think you'd likely remember.

I just put a set of BFG Mud Terrains on and 275 75 R16's was as big as I could go without any rubbing anywhere. The biggest thing about a taller tire is how bad it screws up the gearing on the highway the truck cant find a happy gear at 60 or at 75 it seems. the tire them selfs are a little louder but not to bad. The tires do make the breaking a little tougher and the truck all around feels a little slopier also.

Yep your finding out what alot of us do when we decide we want bigger tires, now your looking at gears and getting your speedo fixed if you have an older model, and yeah all in all a little sloppy handling,go slower around the corners you'll get used to it.

yeah.....
i found its really easy to light up my TSLs in the slightest of wet conditions
i spin if i SEE a mud puddle

they are noisier on the road than an all terrain, and dont handle all that well, but ive had worse mud tires

and comparing mud tires to all terrains is comparing apples to crocadiles

1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars
