I've got a 93 Dakota 4x4 most of you know what my truck is and how it looks by now... If not i'll send you a link to view it..

Anyways, I'm going Prerunner style on this truck! Yes its a torsion bar setup but i think i can still pull it off pretty well, New shocks is a must and losing some weight will surely help. Glassworks makes some Fiberglass fenders for this truck which i will get eventually.. Also a fiberglass hood will come soon to! I've now finally decided which way this truck is heading so leave some ideas for me... So far, i have ordered a tailgate net to get rid of the tailgate (weight savings) I'm designing a new front bumper on CAD for my friend at Kettering University to make. I don't know about the back bumper though... Should i take it off and just have like a roll pan or flat steel back there?? Don't know at the moment. I have the lights needed for the dunes though i could use a few more he he, Anyways theirs my thoughts! Leave some feedback please. This is a daily driver so it don't need to be crazy, just enough to have some good times at silverlake and some trails near my house!

Have you checked your local laws about this sort of thing? Some municipalities are getting real sticky about things like bumper height, headlight height, tire/fender clearances.

I live in michigan... they really don't check these things, yea their are laws, but they are not ever enforced unless the truck is extremely tall. My only worry right now is the bumper in the front.. i'm working on the design right now...

Yea, angle iron having the L shape towards the inside of the bed would probably work well... Thanks for the tip. Should i make a bracket for the license plate on it or put it up by the rear window? I think it'd be better on the bumper but hey i'm asking for ideas so...

Don't forget to run the intake to the passenger compartment. That way you can use it as an ashtray. It'll never fill up!!

I've seen some daks online (cardomain) that have taken the front airdam off... Wasn't that originaly made to direct air into the radiator? Obviously the grill is the main cooling part but wouldn't that make it less economical with the airdam off? I'm considering to take it off, though i do like the way it looks. It will go once i have the new bumper on but for now???

Gotta love the prerunner style. The torrsion bar suspension can work. The biggest problem with it is that the T.B. is on the lower control arm which is constantly pulling down on the ball joints. The local fab shop here in SLC is going to convert mine to a Nissan Titan or Toyota Tundra coil over shock and will be attached to the upper control arm. Better response and less strain on the IFS. Check with your local fab shop and see what they can do for you. Plan on spending some of that hard earned cash and for Gods sake, do not tell the wife/girlfriend how much it will cost. Belive me!! Here is a link to my Dak for some custom prerunner bumper ideas. http://www.cardomain.com/id/Trip416
