With a 3" BL, I know I can fit 33s, but how wide can they be? Will 12.5" wide tires fit?

Depends on your Gen... Truck more or less they're going to rub. 12.50's is really pushing it. I own a Gen 2 and 10.50s rub though only at a full turn flexing but they do rub... Now 12.50s will work but they're WILL be fender trimming.
