Hey folks.. whats up? Well I can tell you what isn't working and that is my front end.. just found out this weekend that the person that had the dakota grenaded the front end.. I mean spider gears everywhere.. What I would like to know is where to get all the guts or just the whole axle assembly if need be. I live in Oregon so if you know somebody that has a used one that has 3.55 gears in it please let me know.. I will be surfing these forums from now on hehe.

Keep in mind that a 92 will have a 7.25" front diff which was only used until 96. The gears from a 97 and up will not fit. When you said it "grenaded the front end" I half expected you to answer it was a 97-99 which had an IFS variation of the Dana 35. Those are know for blowing the pinion out the back of the housing when sudden spikes in torque (ie, lots of front wheel spin and suddenly a tire grabs).

It is a 7.25", it's the only front diff Dodge used in the 4x4 Dakota from 87-96.

97-99 is a Dana 35
00+ is a C205mm.

There was also a rear axle version of the 7.25 used in some Dakotas and there are some differences in the two. When I rebuilt mine a number of years ago, I got everything I needed from Randy's Ring & Pinion, ringpinion.com.
