 Subject: FIRST PULL

I was at work today using the company vehicle a 98 Ford Explorer, 4X4, 4.0L (drive a Ford at work) when I came across a Ford Ranger 4X4 (a new vehicle) stuck in the sand at the beach. A guy with his girlfriend had dug/sunk his vehicle tires to point where the rear bumper was touching the ground. I wish I had a camera!!! HaHa
I figured what the hell, I got a tow strap and it's the company car !!! So I hooked the tow stap up, rear bumper to rear bumper (not enough room to hook up to the front bumper) I started to slowly take up the slack on the tow strap my tires started to spin as I looked in the mirror I could see the Ranger tires spinning to, as driver was on the gas kicking up sand. I was on the gas for about 20-30 seconds and the truck didn't move an inch... So I stoppped and back up a little. The plan was to try to jerk the vehicle out. So I hit the gas and off I went !!!! I felt a big jerk on the vehicle, still not letting up on the gas. The next thing I knew, the rear end was sinking and front end was coming up. At that time I stoppped. I didn't want to be stuck too. I told the driver if he has an auto club membership they can send a tow truck. He didn't, so I told him it would cost about $100-150 for a tow truck to come out here. He didn't have the cash and he said he was going to leave his truck here (it was getting dark now.) I felt sorry for the guy so I told him I'll get my truck. I wouldn't leave a new vehicle out here. I returned with my DAKOTA hooked up the stap and pulled his Ranger out !!! it was nothing, didn't even feel it (like the Explorer.)
The Driver thanked me, then asked what kind of truck is that? I told him it's a Dodge Dakota.
He replied, "I didn't think they were that Powerfull" I replied, "They are, YOU JUST BOUGHT THE WRONG TRUCK!!!" I smiled and picked up my stap. I will never forget the look on that guy face, when I told him he bought the wrong truck.....

I got a similar reaction after I pulled a Volvo back up onto the road in the Nevada desert. It was a very big Volvo - 18 wheels, in fact :-)
