Since dakotas dont come with tow hooks in the front i was wondering if anyone has been able to mount any aftermarket ones in the front anywhere? i have a 2000 QC 4.7L

Hey steve glad to see yer still alive,not many guys do a hundred while taking pictures,bet that Evenrudes gonna need a new impeller after that,but great post nonetheless.the hooks look great.

And yes, I had to replace the Evenrude at the end of the trip. Lost the prop somewhere between Denver and Winslow, Arizona.

How did you attach the tow hooks? I have some from my friends '00 or '01 ranger(cant remember the year) to put on the truck.

I fabbed up an adapter out of 3/8" thick by 3" wide flat stock and bolted it to the frame using existing holes and grade 8 hardware. All the drilling was done to the adapter plate, to match existing holes in the frame and to accomodate the bolt spacing of the tow hooks.
Preliminary checks and fitting for clearances was done using cardboard templates, to test different configurations, because I was also in the process of making new, stronger frame for the push bumpers that would go through the same hole.
I'll try to post some close-up shots tomorrow if the rain lets up (Pacific Northwest).

What year Durango, CJ?
The only tow hook Dodge gave the Dakota (until 2005) was one that fits into the hitch receiver way in back.
