Hi all

I just spoke to the good folks at Hypertech today, http://www.hypertech-inc.com/ . They indicated there was not enough interest in a Power Programmer for the 4.7L engine for them to produce the product. They said nobody is interested in performance enhancements for this engine. I told them they might be in error and should reconsider their position.

Common, let's gang up on them and start calling them and sending emails requesting they offer this product. Who know, we might get them to do it.

Please call Hypertech Sales/Tech at (901)382-8888
and
email them at techsupport@hypertech-inc.com

Patrick, I agree with you so I called them & left them a voice mail that I represented 1000+ people who would like to see a programmer for the 4.7L V8. I also have been pushing ATI/procharger to make one of their air-air intercooled super chargers for the 4.7L since that type of intercooler generates more/safer power than Kenne Bell s/c or anyone else for that matter. Apparently this type of s/c reduces the possibility of detonation so much that it allows for higher boost/power output all without changing the timing or using higher octane. As a result, you can run even higher boost if you wish to use higher octane. I'm not trying to give Kenne Bell a bad name since they appear to have a very good reputation but I haven't heard good things about their 4.7L s/c & that some of the problems reported were trouble with the transmission & pinging/detonation all of which will greatly reduce engine life. If anyone has results other than that I would be glad to hear about it. Sorry, Patrick, I didn't mean to take over your post or anything. You are just adding fuel to my fire & I too am a little fustrated with the aftermarket.

I will also call them. I have an 01 4.7 and the main thing I want is to remove that dang speed limiter. I know its there because of the OEM tire ratings but I am running Pirelli Scorpion Zeros with a V rating. Other than that I am okay with the OEM performance of the 4.7 (for now).

I just hate trying to pass someone and having the speed limiter kick in at 97 MPH.

If I'm not mistaken adding a "JET" chip will get rid of the speed limiter if that's all your trying to accomplish... Has anyone tried it?

I already e-mailed them.. tried calling but guess what ... they are closed on Labor Day.

Jet modules do not affect the speed limiter to my knowledge. I never wanted to get my 4x4 up that fast with it in anyway to find out.

Well I only have a 30 minute lunch break .. so I figured why not see how fast it goes.. I broke 105 mph w/o a problem before I had to slow down to exit... This truck is smooth at that speed but that was definatelly a one time thing. Don't know how you only got 97 mph althought if I understood correctly it's a rev limiter set at 6,000 rpm so that might be what your problem was .. perhaps going up a slight hill/into wind or maybe just different gearing.

I suspect my speed limiter is set a little lower as I have the 2000# package with the XL Tires. Or course these have been changed.
