Subject: Dak lift problem Please help!

Hi, I have a 1990 Dak 2wd, 3.9L. I have been in the lift movement for about a year now. In the last year, I have had installed a 3in body lift and a 2 in suspension lift. I can barely clear 31x10.50's. What is my problem. I have seen other trucks of my year with only a 2in body lift running 31x10.50's. In fact it was in a "Four Wheeler" magazing a few months ago (NOV 00 or Dec.00) I am stumped. Please help me with this.I am about to get the trusty ole sawsall and hack those frnders up. I really want to run 33 or35's.

With 5 inches of lift I would figure you would st least be running 32's or 33's now. How wide are the rims your 31's are on? I dont know much about the susp on the earlier Daks. Walt Felix is the man when it comes to earlier Dak suspensions in my opinion. Maybe he will read this and can shed some light on the subject.

My rim size is 15X7. Same as stock. I don't understand what my problem is either! Mr. Felix, if you happen to see this please drop me a line.

But not the stock wheels? I would start investigating the wheel offset. If the offset isn't right the tire will be in a very different position relative to the hub, which could lead to interference.

It's also possible that you are more meticulous about checking interference than other folks. I've heard people say they run such-and-such size tire with "no problems." But if you look inside their fenderwells you can see scrapes. Ask and they'll say "Well, yeah, it rubs a little bit. But it doesn't cause any problems."

But I agree. Seems like you ought to be able to run decent sized tires with five inches of lift.

Yeah, I probably am alittle bit more picky than most people. I just want my Dak to be properly fitted out. I don't want to hurt her any. I will check on that offset issue though. Thanks for all of your help guys!!!!!!
