 Subject: Best Exhaust for 3.9L

I have a 2001 3.9L 4x4 CC. It is used for mostly city driving, with an occasional jaunt off-road. I ran into a friend of mine from back in high-school and he is now a part owner at a exhaust shop. He will give me a great deal on a custom exhaust and I can get anything I want (He would do straight pipes, no cats, no mufflers if I wanted).
What would you people suggest I have done to get the best performance out of my truck for what I use it for (I never take it to the track, or race so that is not important, fuel economy and off-road performance are)

hey, i have a 98 CC 3.9L and i have a Single in Dual Out Flowmaster 40-Series exhaust. it sounds pretty good considering the engine size. cant tell a huge difference in performance though. i just got it for looks and sound.
