i got a 98 cc 4x4 318. during the summer i want to take it on the beach when i go on vacation. yea i kno its a long time away but im ready now lol. anyways, my truck doesnt have a posi, so do you think it will be fine on the sand? mite end up going to the outer banks in nc. dont know how loose the sand is.
also, never been on the beach before and got some questions about driving. ive heard people say they keep their trucks in 2wd most of the time. should i go into 4wd when i get stuck, or keep it in 4hi so i dont get stuck?
o yea, this winter im planning on gettin 31" bfg A/Ts which i hear are 10 times better than the RT/Ss

i have a open rear diff and i have been through some very deep sand, even climbing loose sand at suprising angles and making it. i would not run 2wd, by the time you get stuck you may have already dug enough to cause a problem. Use 4wd hi, keep your speed up, drop your tire pressure atleast 10psi and use the brakes only if you have to. if you must park ofcourse look for hard sand or atleast park somewhat on a downhill slope so getting started will be easier. bring a shovel, tow rope and plenty of water and you should be on good shape

I go to the outer banks all the time. You should be fine in 2wd for the most part. So many people drive the beach it's kind of like driving on pavement. If you are worried about getting stuck, just stay in the driving lanes everyone else has made and you should have no problem what so ever.

yea we'll probly rent a place in kill devil hills. it would probly take just as long to get to carova than it would to get to buxton. yea im kinda worried about gettin my truck stuck but i also wanna do something a little more challenging than "driving on pavement".

As previously mentioned, dropping your air pressure makes an incredible difference.
