Good luck! You can get a stock shaft or get one custom made. I had one made because the stock one is a POS. I paid $600 dollars for a custom double cardan joint type. They don't make any aftermarket shafts for our year.

4X4Dak, Where did you get 4.56:1 gears for the Dakota front axle? I have been looking all over and the highest I can find is a 4.10:1. A couple of my buds had a shop install 4.56 gears in their 4X4s and when we checked we found that they said they put 4.56's in but they were actually 4.10's. The guy was a smart a$$ and said we wouldn't have known the differance if we didn't check. If you actually bought yours,I would like to know who can supply them. Thanks, Dan

I can't say that I have checked to see if they are 4.56's, but I can't definately feel the difference. I had the 3.92's before hand, and I don't think that I would have felt anything going to 4.10's. Anyways, they're called Driveline Vista in California. He went through alot of trouble trying to find out what type of axle we have in the front, it's an 8" American axle. Once he found out what axle I had in the front, he was able to get gears for it. I posted this shortly after I found out, but no one responded so I figured that it was old news.

Thanks,4X4Dak, I will check them out. I stuck an 8 3/4" rear in my truck and it has 4.56:1 gears. My front end has 3.55:1 gears. Had to take the driveshaft out so I wouldn't forget and put it in 4WD and bust everything. I'm just too cheap to buy new gears for the rear end. Dan
