Subject: What is an ISS Front Differential?
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm looking into changing the gears in my '02 4x4 QC 4.7 from 3.55 to 4.11, and the guy is asking what kind of differentials I have. He asked if I have the ISS front differential...? I don't know what that is. I just thought they were 9.25" rear and 8.25" front for my truck, not some type or name. I know the rear is 9.25" (12-bolt pattern), and I'm sort of guessing on the 8.25" front since it looks smaller. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Vince

he may have asked if you had the "IFS" front differental. THat's on trucks that don't have solid axles up front, such as the dakota :)

I believe that the 8" American axle is the standard for the front axle. I don't think it's the 8.25". I have the 8".
