I knew good old Rancho wouldnt let me down. Time to start filling out those loan papers. Might as well get them ready. I think the reason they are only doing the 3 inch Blizz is because in order to fit anything bigger than 33's you need 5 inches or more of lift ie. Superlift. I guarantee you that as soon as Rancho has theirs out Superlift will too. Ahhhhhhhh. I can already see my baby with 3 more inches of height and some nice fat 33x12.50's. I need to go be alone for a minute.

No, Superlift hasn't released theirs yet either. I was told back in March they were looking at late summer to early fall. I'll be surprised if they come out any earlier than next year.

We're guessing that Superlift will have a 5-6" lift ... they usually go pretty tall. I'm HOPING anyway, cuz I'd really like a set of 35" BFG's under the ol' Dak!

I cannot understand why it is taking so long for these guys to get lifts out for the new 2k trucks!!! I went to the link for the Rancho kit and hell, there are only 9 pieces in the kit not including shocks or bolts!!! $1500 is a joke. there cannot be that much difference from 99 to 00 or 01's can there.

Also, I have seen on this section that QC 5.9 owners are getting 32x11.50's on without a lift. this is great but while looking under the truck yesterday, I could probably get 3" of lift by just jacking the torsion bars and installing blocks. Does this drastically change the geometry so much that it becomes undrivable or does it just get too stiff? Looks like a nearly free lift to me?

I want a tall a** dakota soon to park on my neighbor's 300Z.......pics would follow but would be incriminating.

I think the $1,500 price tag isn't related to cost of production ... more like SUPPLY VS. DEMAND!

I think the price is ridiculous, too. My guess is that the lift manufacturers were waiting to see if Dodge was gonna stick with the new front end in years to come or not. They probably wouldn't stick a bunch of R&D into a truck that changed it's running gear every two years. Hopefully they've all gotten the message that we WANT LIFTED DAKS!! (I know I've put a bug or two in their ears!)

Aggie, I have 32's on my truck with no lift. THe reason for the long delay is mainly them trying to find a way to adapt the rack and pinion steering to a lift. I have decided to go ahead and put on a Perf accessories 3 inch body lift on my truck ($200) and 33's. After the Rancho kit has been out for 6 to 8 months and I know they have all the bugs worked out, I will add it. Who knows, by then I may like the body lift enough that I wont want the susp lift. The price tag on the susp lift really stinks, especially when you add in the $500 or so for installation. Too many things to keep adjusted, especially when removing and reinstalling the torsion bars. With all that said, I do like a susp lift much much more than a bidy lift, but, I have to go with what my wallet can afford to get the results I want (33 inch tires).

I caled Rancho yesterday to see how soon "coming soon" really means. Apparently it means "sometime in 2002."

I can wait. I am glad someone is getting one out. But the price is gonna suck. Rancho is a good name, and seem to be known to hold alignment (probably because the don't go much over 3") - but $1500!?!?. C'mon.

I'll still probably get theirs, even if there is a 5" kit coming by tough country, and combine it with a couple inches of body lift.

To those who got the Perf Accessories kit, does it come with steering extensions and other nasty things? Or ca nyou just cut the bolts and up it goes?

Thanks,
MikeC

what up, I have the performance Accessories
2" body lift they come with steering extension
blocks, bumper brackets, the hole 9 yards , AND, they even give
you the extension for your transfer case
4x4 shift lever that must be CUT IN HALF then the
extension must be welded on , if that wasn't enough
the 4x4 shift lever must also be heated again and
bent 1/4" back so all 4x4 shift points engage
and more importantly STAY ENGAGED!
cool huh

cool hawkeye, good luck. Sounds like the body lift could be alot of work in itself. I have heard that the dakotas don't look as bad as the S-10's with body lifts but I think I am going to wait for the suspension lift. I know in past posts I have slammed the TC lift but have since found out, maybe here, that the lift won't hold an alignment or stay tight on the truck because of the powder coated paint on the parts. If it is ground off where it mates to the frame, then the problems tend to go away. If this is true then great. The problem I have with the TC lift is the requirement of new rims with the different offset. Ranch 3" kits are able to use the same rims thereby saving mucho dinero. I would love to find out more about the custom lift on the green and silver QC that was posted and find out just how hard it was to make. It looked very well done and the 35's just made me drool.

anyway, good luck to all and have a good night.

Aggie,
I emailed a bit with the owner of that truck. He said it was a major P-I-T-A. Said he wouldnt want to do it again. He had to keep trying stuff over and over before he was able to get it to work. He also completely redid the steering (stupid rack and pinion). He is also using a body lift with the susp lift. It is a sweet looking truck. I really do like the Rancho lift and really want it but, just dont want to be the first to get it. I want to wait and let it be on the market for 6 to 8 months and let all the bugs get worked out. Then if I still want it I'll get it then. All this trouble because Dodge had to go and put stupid rack and pinion steering in the 4x4's. They did it to give the trucks more car like handling. BAHHH!! If I wanted a vehicle to ride and handle like a car, I'd have bought a car! Nothing wrong with the old recirculating ball centerlink setup if you ask me. I will be putting on my body lift and 33's this weekend. I will be taking lots of pictures for everyone to see and give me their opinions on.

Daks ROCK!

I agree with Hawk on waiting for the bugs to get worked out. Has anyone figured out how to prevent bumpsteer without a steering stabilizer? What is going to be the limit of tire size with the rack before you bump a rock and blow a rack?

I think the steering is much more precise than it was before but it sure doesn't make lifting easy.

I think I am going to get the 32x11.50's and wait for a long while to see what gives. The added cost to go to 33's seems like way too much when 32's will fit without. I think a tire with a square shoulder and a bit wider will look good enough. Might crank the torsion bars an inch and add a 1 inch block in the rear.

Well, good luck to all and keep up the good work.

"It has a total lift of eight inches comprised of Fabtech, Daystar and Performance Accessories products."

Actually, its 2WD, so that may make lifting it a bit easier.

Knobbyman, an auto would seem to be easier as you dont have to fool with the shift linkage. The shifter cable for an auto has plenty of slack in it for a 3 inch body lift. Not sure how it would work for a stick. This is just a wild guess on my part.

For those that have the 5 speed:
It is actually very easy as well. Remove the plastic molding...lift the body...rinstall the plastic molding.

The 1 - 2 Shift is a bit tight. Not so much you cant shift into second..but still tight.

You can fix this by removing the stick and bending it slightly to the pass side (about a 1/4" will do just fine.)
