RanchoDak, the answer to your 10" rim question is like the answer to a lot of tire and wheel questions people ask: "it depends." So you're going to hear from both ends of the spectrum.

For some reason some guys will have wheel bearing that can handle anything, but then other dudes will have wheel bearings go out within a few months with stock wheels. If you're going with aftermarket 10" wide wheels, IMO, it comes down to backspacing. If the wheel is 10" wide and has very little backspacing the wheels stick out further from the hub, which can place more stress on the bearings.

Personally, I wanted 10" wheels so I compromised. I went with a 15X10 Weld SS wheel. Though it is 10" wide, the backspacing is fairly close to stock, so the wheels only stick out 2-3" further than the stock wheels. The distance from the center of the tire to the center of the wheel hub didn't change that much.

Like I said, this is just my opinion. I've had good luck with this setup, but some guys will also tell you they've done well with some more aggressive spacing. Just my $2/100. Good luck!

He's right. It's simple physics (yeah, like physics is ever simple). The back spacing determines how much lateral torque is applied to central mounting point (bearings) balanced out by the amount of weight pulling in the opposite direction.

Sound complicated, and I'm sure there are some very complicated formulas to calculate this torque facter, involving tire diameter, tire weight, wheel weight, mass effect, phases of the moon, etc. But I think if you maintain the approximate relationship of width to backspacing, you'll be pretty close.

For example, your stock wheel is 8" wide, with 5" of backspacing. A 10" wheel should have 6.2" of backspacing to maintain the same relationship. You'll have to check if that will fit lock to lock, because it moves the inner tire/wheel edge inboard 1.2", and the outer tire/wheel edge .8" outboard. So be sure and measure for clearance at the tire edges and the wheel edges.
