HELLO just a few questions for you old timer fans of the dakota

looking to purchase a 2002 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab can anyone tell me how easy it is to get kits for the vehicle...

what is the differance between a body lift and a suspension lift and what is the pro and cons of each??? also what is the maximum size tires you can put on this truck??

also how well does the dakota v8 engine match up to say pulling a trailer with possibly two snowmobiles on them? does it have enough guts..

let me know and greatly appreciated

You're looking for far more data than can be contained in one post, or even one thread. But if you do a search on this forum you'll find multiple posts and threads on each subject. I'd say about an hour or so of reading material that should answer all your questions. You'll surprised on how much experiance is here.

i don't know anything about the lifts, but the engine's a different story... the 4.7L has MORE than enough power to pull 2 snowmobieles :-)

I know a guy that pulls a 24' 5th wheel camper in the passing lane of the highway! he has the towing package though (00 4.7L 4X4). if you plan on doing any heavy towing, you should get the tow package...

you shouldnt even feel the 2 snowmobieles, even without the towing package. (you get a tranny cooler, prewired trailer light harness, heavier springs, and a rear sway bar) i'm not sure on the last 2, I think you get the rear sway bar with the sport package too...

Well the only real lift choices you have are the PA 3" body lift and the Rancho 3" suspension lift.

Pros and cons on both depending on what you want.

The Body lift is good if you want to run wider tires and have the lifted look. You will rub frame at full turn lock with most tires 32x11.5 and bigger. Changing the Wheel backspacing will only change the rub spots. at full turns with 33x12.5 on stock you get minor frame rub in the front. You will still need to do some trimming to the plastci in the wheel wells to run 33x12.5's. The body lift look is not bad to most but please note Gap gaurds will be needed and you will show frame underneath.

The Rancho suspension lift will allow you to run 33x10.5 on stock rims. If you want a wider tire you will need to get rims with less backspacing like 4.5". The front IFS should not have a problem with this but if you go less you may start to have issues within the IFS. Even if you change rims with a body lift it will still create the same issues on the IFS.

I run the suspension lift and my buddy has the body lift. Comes down to how you want your truck to look.

Both lifts should be readily available. Search for Dakota USA on this forum to buy them, I think he pretty much has them ready to ship and the best price.
