Subject: Tuff Country 5.5 in the mud??
IP: Logged

Message:
im considering the tuff country 5.5 lift, but im not going to bother with it if it wont hold together on the trails and mud pits, i've heard mixed reviews, and not totally sure, i would like to be able to run 34-36 inch tires and have been told i would be better off with the rancho 3inch and a body lift with a little torsion bar work.. thanks guys

I'm currently installing the TC 5.5 on my 99. Oviously don't know how it holds up to off-roading yet, but by the looks of things so far, I think it will be just fine.

Brian22,
I've had this lift installed for just under a year now. I have gone offroad with it several times, and have had no problems with it at all. Right now I only have 33's on it, but could easily put 35's on it. Just waiting for the tires to wear out first.

Sounds good, do you have any pics of it, and have you had any on-road problems with the left, (alignment, ride quality, differential stress)

I have a few pics of it, if you give me your email address I will send you some. The pics I took of it are too big to post here, and I am not computer smart enough to shrink them down. As far as any problems, not really. I have had the alignment done about every 6 months(not a bad idea if you ever go offroading). Overall drivability is fine too. No problems with bumpsteer or anything like that either.

The tuff country lift is going to fall apart if you don't box the front and rear lower control arm drop brackets (weld them all together once the alingment is set. I had the lift for 2 years and had major problems. The truck now has a dana 44 front .
