I know this has been posted before, but Im getting sick of the run around about it. I want spindles. No one makes them. I went to an off road fab shop, and he told me $400 per spindle and Id have a set. I told him a bunch of you guys would be interested, and maybe that would cut the price a bit. So he claims he can make them with no problems. Nothin out of the ordinary. I emailed fabtech about them, and this is what the sent me.

James I do not know what to say this , the geometry of the front end will not allow us to build a spindle. If we did, the front spindle would stick out from the front end about 4-5 inches outside the fender. This is not how we would like to see a product built,It's just not right. Thanks

I don't see any reason for this explanation. Why would the spindle stick out? Does anyone know what would cause that? I emailed back asking for him to explain, and if he can't, Im going to assume fabtech is feeding me crap, because that guy I talked to about the custom fab looked at me suspension, and said no problem. He told me he's into building baja trucks, and Ive seen all the sand rails "dune buggies" he's built cuz they are outside. The shop is Desert Dog Off Road incase someones interested. Its in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Anyway. So, let me know what you guys think. Im going to look into the custom fab more, but I need a spindle for him. Need to get to the scrap yard. I'll keep you guys informed of my progress.

I got another email back from fabtech. They were supposed to explain to me why they couldn't build a spindle in this email.

Being a manufacture we look at every angle before we produce a product, one of the things we look at is sales. If the industry is asking for something we will look at it,if we feel that a spindle needs to be built we would build it.Unfortunately we do not see the demand and also our engineers may also see something that would make it difficult to make.Sorry we can not help you.

Goon. Yes Fountain Hills is about maybe 20-30 miles outside Phoenix. I go to Arizona State University in Tempe. Anyway. Well, Ive read some more about why the spindles can't be made. I don't believe what Ive read. Im going to go back to the shop tomorrow after work and see what else the guy has to say about spindles. The guy asked me last time what rims I wanted the spindle to be designed to take. Im sorry guys, but with the fabtech lift, Ive heard some problems about premature ball joint wear, and thats due to the rim backspacing. So I might have to tell him to try to keep it stock. That probably wont happen due to ball joint clearance anyway, but I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'll ask him to make one for stock, and for you guys with the fabtech lift. I'll write more tomorrow after I see him again.

if you look at your truck's suspension , you will see that the balljoint (upper) sits inside the rim , the rim is offset like a front wheel drive rim ............. if you make a taller spindle , it would be taller not beign able to sit inside the rim ........... need rim with less backspacing , sticking the rim out the sides more ........ that's what hppens with the fabtech 3" already , the balljoints moves further up , and not so much the balljoints but the brake lines run right through there . So need new rims , new brake lines (specially made ) new spindle ...... still get the pre mature balljoint prob . If you are going to go through the trouble of doing all this than you would run uniballs instead of balljoints ......

Do any of you guys read the off roadin magazines? there is an ad in one of them (can't remember which, but will find out) that says they have lift spindles for dakotas. it doesn't say anything more than that, but i think the company was something like TS suspension? I still have hope.

Yeah trucking suspensions. They are the same ones that make the lifts for trucks you can't drive, if you can even manage to get the lift on.
