Does anyone know of any tricks with the torsion bars on 2001 dakota 4x4,good for 1-2" of lift. If not does anyone offer something that will give the front some lift to even things out a little?

No big "trick", you just crank up the adjusting bolt by the rear of the torsion bar; then have it aligned. Got close to 2" out of mine. Easier to turn the bolt if you jack up the front end to take the weight off.

premature component wear ie...balljoints etc(not that that matters with the dak's anyway) will occur once torsion bars are manipulated.
so ive heard.....
also, would be a much stiffer ride.
im still toying with the idea on twistin mine abit though : P
did that just level the truck out,or did you have to play with the rear springs?

You could get it pretty level with the torsion bars; and yes, rides a bit stiffer. Personally, I went with Roadmaster active suspenion in the rear, raising mine about 2" all around. I'm not overly concerned about the ball joint wear; I plow with it too and still good at 35,000. Truck carries the plow much better with the torsion bars cranked.

Steve,

I'm looking into doing something similar with my '98 4X4 Sport. Was thinking that after I finally get my welder I want to try fabbing-up some longer arms and making some new bump stops, etc... Of course going to have to find some longer CV shafts. Any idea what kind of shafts I can get? I know the Tacoma guys can get longarm kits that use CV's from the Tundra.

I currently have the Rancho 3" on my truck, but it doesn't give me anymore travel. Looking to do something custom to the front. The rear is pretty simple since the straight axle long-travel set-ups have all been done before. The front, however, is all new territory for a long-travel 4X4.

I currently have the Glassworks fenders and bedsides. I recommend them to anybody! Did the install myself. Great quality, look cool, and they cover my tires. Email me if anybody wants pics. Truck is black now, but waiting for funding to paint the truck red (paint fund went for a ring)!

hey kory, if you are looking to get longer cv's, you can either splice them together with an extension, or do cutsom, which i recommend because it will be stronger. check out driveshaftsuperstore.com, they can build you some custom cvs, but it will probabily not be cheap.

send me some pics of yer truck, rckid25@juno.com

Steve
