I'm new to the dak world, just wondering what type of front end a 2003 or 2004 had in it, ex. dana 44, corparte 10, dana 30, and so on... also is there anyone who makes gears for them.

Well it doesnt have a solid-axle really like most older full-size trucks....it has an IFS (independent front suspension). Thats about all i know to tell you..maybe someone else can say more.

They used to use a dana35 but the newer ones are made by chrysler something like a DC7.5 or something.

It’s the other way around. 87-96 was Chrysler 7¼” differentials. The newer Dakotas 97+ have an IFS variation of the Dana 35.

I think the newer DAKs (maybe '02 and beyond), have the Chrysler C205 front end. Just going from memory here from some research I did when I changed the diff fluid ... might want to confirm this for sure.

Now that you mention it, I do recall reading something about a 205mm Front Axle in the 2004 Dakotas.

I also remember reading, some time back, about Dana Corp. building a plant across the road from a South American Dodge plant where Dana builds the rolling chassis and Dodge is putting the bodies on. Don't know if any of those make it to the US though. It's the same plant where they build the diesel version of the Dakota that's sold in South America.

2000+ Dak/durango come with the 205mm front end, thus the change in suspension from 97-99 and 2000+ 97-99 use a Dana35M

Great article Walt. I wonder if Dana would sell me one of those with a straight front axle in it? :o) Then I could drop a Pinto body on it.
