Subject: New to lifting????

I have a 2wd RC 2000 V6. Ok, yah yah, laugh, ha ha ha ha ha. Now stop it! I want my truck to look just like Bernd's truck. I'm not some crazed fanatic or stalker, I just want a prerunner look and his is a good model. I emailed Fabtech and they recommend, with just the lift kit, 15 x 7" wheels with 31 x 10.50's. But I want the extra height of the body lift with the 32 x 11.50's. Performance accessories makes 2 and 3" lifts for 97-99 but only 3" lift for my truck. Bernd has been nice enough to answer some of my questions but I have more. What will be the difference, besides the obvious, if I use the 3" body lift? What things will I have to modify as far as steering, etc? The 3" kit for my truck also doesn't come with bumper brackets so I guess I'll be fabricating my own. Anyone with some input would be very helpful. I'm in the military and have access to a full auto hobby shop with lifts and all the tools I need. Can I install both the suspension and the body lift myself? I know I will need an alignment but I mean just the installation.

And, yes, I've heard about body lifts breaking but I will fabricate some extra heavy duty brackets to bolt under the truck. Properly installed a body lift should be no problem. It's all in how you install it and how you drive it.
