I've been looking around for a suspension lift of about 3-6" and have found a few sources. BUT rancho states that their lift kit does not fit a 2003 model 4x4 dakota, only a 2000-2002. That's fine and all, but does this mean that THEIR kit doesn't work or their the only ones who relise there's a difference. Any other place that i've found a lift kit covers 1999-2004, I'd hate to spend that kind of money if they aren't aware of the change. So if any one knows for sure...

I own a '03 4.7 5speed Dakota, current addons and mods are, custom stainless rollbars with 4 top mounted 'Peterbilt' lights (very bright), CB antena also mount on roll bars, light covers, center console is now just a piece of Diamond plating, pedal covers, nurf bars, and mudflaps. My mudflaps are also custom, and if any body wants good mudflaps, go buy some from a transport truck company, (they have solid colous no symbols), cut the mud flap in half shave of the corners and some exess over lap and add stailess weights on the bottom, they provide more cover, more durabilty, and most important... better looking.

I think it has something to do with the rear wheel disc brakes. I cant remember if that was the only thing.

Not sure why that would be an issue but someone may. I could be wrong all together though.

Interesting, i thought i was something to do with the front. Do you know if the front end has been torsion bars since '99, I wasn't sure if they might have been springs in previous years.

No springs up front on a 4x4 for a while if they ever did have them.

IFS came in the GEN III before that I dont know what there was.

I think the differance is in the knuckles or the upper control arms.

Rancho is the only one that has a true suspension lift for 02 and newer 4wd vehicles. All the others are for 2wd only. Plus they don't have rear disk brakes, only drum.

Based on searching around the net for 33 seconds .... the '03s have rear discs and the control arm or something connected to it (not sure on that one) has been slightly altered (maybe to compensate for a design that eats balljoints). Have a great day.
