Subject: Dakota Sport Tires Recomendation

Message:
I have an 2wd 02 Dakota sport and the factory provide a smooth ride and cornering but suck in the rain and snow. I am looking to go with a more aggresive but decent riding tire. I was looking at the BF All Terrains or Rugged Trails. The guy at the tire shop told me either of those would screw up the performance of the truck. Of course, they are not road tires.

Any recomendations?

What are you needing the tires for? For an aggressive LOOKING at BFG is prolly the best LOOKING. I would not deal with that tire shop.

The BFG is and OK tire on and off road. Since you are a 2wd it would be fine, As long as you get a size to properly fit your truck.

If you need and AT for other reasons you may want to check out how the tire rack .com rates the AT's you may find some interesting results.

Dont let a tire guy talk you into a tire you do want or like. I have found them to be very annoying and little help. Everyone runs BFG AT's almost so they cant be that bad. I personally dont run them anymore but for other reasons.

Cooper AT, LT or ST (sweet-ass All-terrain), great tires, great prices.

BFG AT was one of the longest lasting tires I ever owned. My last truck ( GMC SIERRA) had 35s on it. lasted 90 000 miles. no kidding. I double checked the mileage. Currently its running the same tire AT KO and it has 70K on them and look abotu 1/2 worn. My wife had them on a GMC Jimmy and they had 50 000 miles on them and abotu 1/3 tread left. Took them off cause they got really noisy. the ONLY thing I dont like about BFG is once they wear wrong they tend to wear badly.
I jsut kept up on the air pressure and rotated them every oli change and they last forever.
Most likely thats the tire im gonna put on my dakota just because they last forever
