Subject: Jeep guy needs some info!!!

Hey guys,
I drive a pretty built Jeep, but need so quick info for my roommate.

He has a 98 (I think) 4banger Dakota Sport. I have a line on some cheap 32x11.5x15 tires on stock Dakota wheels. Are we gonna need to throw soem kind of lift on his truck to fit 32s. He only drives it on the street so dont need to worry about if they will rub when he flexs. Just for street driving.

Any help is much appreciated.

I'd say forget about them. First they definitely won't fit. And second cuz of the taller tires your gear ratio will be so much lower that a 4 cyl. truck with no power as it is will be bogged down even more.

If he's only going to be on the street, why spend money on a lift kit? Just get some cheap street tires.

K man....

It is gonna take some power to turn the 32's. However, if that is not an issue....you could do some minor mods, maybe change gears(depending on what you are after) and have a streetable truck.
As far as lift. I would go with a 3" body lift and put it on myself. That can be done with a little work and about 100 bucks all said and done.

If it is a 4x4....you could get away with cranking the torsion bars, putting in a 1" block in back, and rubbing a bit on the street. It is up to you how you wanna do it, but to fit 32's with little rub then go body lift.

Stock 4x4's have 31's, so you could squeeze them in IMO.

I have a 97 with 33's and a 3" Body Lift, so I know what the setup is like. I plan to go 35's after this winter by adding a 1" block in the rear and being careful on the trail. I can't afford a suspension lift, I am in college and can't afford to eat :)

Good Luck, email if Xtions.

Yo i got a 4banger dakota with a three inch body 2 inch higherin springs and 33's. I can't tell a difference in in how slow it is unless im ont he freeway where it takes a while to get up to like 70. But down low i can still burn out 1st and chirp second. Its not as weak as most people think, until you get on the freeway and get waxed by metros flying by.

I tried double clutchin in second in my 4cyl dak and lit the tires up nicely at like 15mph. Its not bad at all. I know the traction sucks, and thats mostly the reason, but its a hell of a lot faster than a jeep 4cyl. I think its faster than many 4cyl cars out there. It will beat a civic lx/dx. right about the freeway though.
