Am I going to have a problem with a high-flow, cool-air intake system (like the Z-Tube, or K&N FIPK) in the dirt? The serious perf. guys all seem to have 2WD, so I assume they won't encounter much off-road dirt/dust/muck. These are all washable filters, so I wouldn't mind having to clean them after each off-road trip. I just don't know if "high-flow" means less effective filtration of particles (don't want to be sucking dirt/dust into my intake).

I've done some studying on this ail filtration thing before I bought my K&N filter, and these high performance filters do flow a lot more air over OEM paper filters, and they do filter the air better and more effective than those OEM filters.

Also, you will not need to wash them after a dirty offroading trip. I wash mine about every 20,000 miles - takes about 30 minutes. K&N recommends washing every 50,000 miles, but that is probably assuming simple street driving. But in my opinion, you will get a lot better air filtration with these aftermarket filters than sticking with the OEM filter!
