Subject: Rancho 3" Lift Problem
IP: Logged

Message:
So, I had the 3" lift put on and everything seemed to be ok, until I went to change the oil and saw that the front sway bar had shifted/moved about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches to the right, from the drivers side to the passenger side. This is causing the rubber bushing on the drivers side to wear out, quickly. I have had 4wheel parts who did the install re-aligh the sway bar twice. They have checked the ride hieght, that is correct, the torsion bars are on the correct side, that has been checked. I have rancho 9000's, they are adjusted correctly. The guys at 4wheel parts are working with Dodge to try to solve the problem, they are not getting any help from Rancho. Anyone out there have any ideas or has anyone run into this problem???

Thanks for the help, Terry

I dont see what you are talking about but here is a photo of mine. The sway bar should have only dropped down below the new front drop down cross member. So are you saying that the bar is moving back and forth wearing the bushings? Mine do not look like they are wearing, over 10K miles on mine

I am saying that the sway bar has moved and it not centered. This causes the bushing close on the lower drivers side control arm to wear out. The sway bar is shifted about .75 to 1 inch over from where it should be.

Had that problem with mine... Terry.. All I did was go down a size for the metal bracket that holds the bushing onto the swaybar.

Seemed to fix it from sliding out sideways.. BUT I didn't have my truck long enough after I got that changed to go wheeling.

Good luck.
