Subject: lift=bigger tires?

I know people are wanting a lift kit for their 00'-01' dakotas so they can install bigger tires, increase ground clearance etc. What if instead of modifying the suspension you modify the body? What do people think of the pre-runner concept? Use prerunner fiberglass fenders and bed sides (have much bigger openings for larger tires) and away you go. You could have more ground clearance and not raise the center of gravity of the vehicle as much. Of course it means removing significant amounts of sheetmetal, bigger tires can put strain on suspension components, etc. but it's a thought!

I support the idea, however I wonder how easy it will be to find an aftermarket place that can make fiberglass fenderwells, and hoods, and things like that, to give it that type of offroad look. I've searched around, and most places just do Ford's, Toyota's, and Chevy's. Havent found much in the way of Dakota's.

If you find anyone, let me know, 'cause I'm game!

Good idea. But I'd think with all the body panels that you'd have to replace the cost would go way beyond what the suspension lifts will cost (when/if they ever DO come out).

It would be a cool look though.
