I have an '02 quad cab and am installing a PA 3" lift next weekend, and i'm wondering if i can run 16x10 wheels under if i stay with stock tire height. I really dont want to settle for 16x8 because i like the "deep dish" look. Please help. i've been researching for 3 months now with no luck. Any one w/ 10" deep wheels please send me pics and tell me the brand. I'm like the AR-baja/eagle-589/MT classicII look-there's 50 variety of the same wheel!

i'm just wondering how a tire will look on an 8" rim. i'm planning on getting the lift and putting 285/75/16's on my factory rim. Currently it has 265/70/16's. Anyone have more info?

i have my 33x12.50 bfg m/t's mounted on 15x8 eagle 589's and i like the look. The tire sticks out past the rim and protects the rim. I like the low backspacing of the rim too cuz it make the whells and tires stick out past the fender a couple inches..im satisfies with the look

I have a 98 Durango with 15x8 eagle 589, with 35x12.50x15 Goodyear MTR's. the tires stick out past the fender along with protecting the wheel. But the main reason I staid with the 15x8 is cause with that size tire its hard to bust the beed when wheeling it

I like the deep look myself. Also putting a wide tire on a narrow rim will cause the tire to wear prematurely because it bulges the tread in the center. A 12" tire is supposed to be on atleast a 10" rim. You will have to crank your T bars some and trim the plastic inside your fenders and on the front bumper some but it's worth it for the look in my opinion. I have been driving mine for over a year now with no complaints.

OPINIONS ARE LIKE....WELL, YOU KNOW THE REST!!

Actually a 12 or a 12.50 tire is recomended for a 8-12" wheel. You don't want to try and prove me wrong cause I should know. After all I do own and work at my 4x4 shop.

What about the potential for premature failure on the ball joints and/or wheel bearings?

I may be completely out to lunch here [well, I WILL be in an hour :)] but the 10 inch wheels seem to have more potential to damage your front end. If the 8 inch and 10 inch width rims have the same backspacing [say, both mount to the studs at 3.25" from the back side of the rim], then the 10 inch rim puts even more weight/stress further away from the 'centerline' of the mounting area.

With the 8 inchers, your weight is pretty close to balanced, but with 10 inchers your weight is 1-2 inches farther away from the centerline and, if you hit anything with the outer edge of the wheel, it seems you might put even more 'bad torque' on the hub than it was designed for: which could lead to premature wheel bearing breakdown, or to the need to replace your ball joints [and the lowers are a PAIN to remove!]. Or, it might just lead to the wheel itself being damaged in the mounting area. Whatever the weakest point is should begin to 'give' due to the force.

Like I said, I may be COMPLETELY off base here, and I have no problem admitting that this observation is an instinctual one that is not backed up by any time in a shop, or any real experience: just some dim memory of something I picked up in physics in high school back when slide rules where a dream of a brilliant future. If you only intend to drive around on pavement, I don't think this would create a problem very rapidly. If you are planning on driving off-road, or just on good fireroads, the irregularities may cause undue wear. Like I said, this is just the morning musings of a man without his daily caffeine shot yet. Good luck and enjoy, whatever you decide.

dirty durango, maybe you can help me with this....I'm trying to get my 98 durango to clear 37x13.5's with a TC 5.5" and a 3" body lift. Do you think that i'll have enough clearance or will I have to do some cutting? What lift did you use to clear the 35's & if you have any picts of it I like to see them. Thanks...
