i asked this same question not ot long ago. I'll try and answer it but if not search for "wheels and bs" and you'll find plenty of info. Basckspacing is the amount of your wheel and tire that sticks back into the wheel well. Theoretically if a wheel has no bs, the entire wheel will be sticking outside of the hub and nothing underneath the fenderwell. so, the lower the number for bs, the more trimming you might have to do the corner of your front bumper and the higher you run the risk of rubbing frame and upper ball joints. i have 33x12.5 on my 02 dak with 5.5in of bs, and had the "slightest" bit of rub on the front bumper and that's it. I would say don't go higher than that cuz you'll rub frame fairly significantly, but anywhere from 3 1/4-up should be good and leave you with minor trimming. hope that helps

The lower the number for backspacing the farther the wheel is going to stick out of the fender.
So if the backspacing is 3.50", it will stick out farther than a 5.25" backspacing

backspacing is the measurement that the rim goes into the fender , from the hub in .............the above post on rubbing the balljoint is with a high backspacing with the fabtech lift or rancho maybe .........for example you have a 7" rim with 4" backspacing , 4" goes in and 3" go out .........the stockers are 5.5 backspacing , 5.5 in 2.5 out .......the 15x8 eagles and pretty much all the manf. are 3.25 , 3 1/4 in 4 3/4" out , there is a noticible look on the truck between one and the other .........with the rims out lower bs looks taller , with the bs higher the rims are in more and does't look that tall , in reality it's an illusion , because a 31in a 7" rim will go taller than a 31in an 8" , in a 4wheel drive high backspacing will rub on the chassis , trimming is not that bad if done right , the inner black fender linning could be trimmed all the way to where the metal starts on the back part of the fender , in the front the tip of teh lower valance and also the black linning .......
