Subject: Wheel Spacers

Message:
I did a search and couldn't find anything, but I know the subject has come up a couple times. I'm going to be running a 3" PA body lift and I'll probably crank the t-bars enough to level the truck out. I'm gonna run 305/70R16 BFG's on the factory wheels and I was wondering if it's safe to use either .5" or .75" spacers w/longer studs to help move the wheels out enough to keep the tires from rubbing on the frame. The truck will be going offroad. Has anyone done this, on a Dakota or any other 4x4, is it safe and is it reliable? Thanks.

Safe. Yes.
Reliable. Sorta.
It causes more strain on your bearings. Everything else should be fine.

I have some .25" spacers I was using. I have not extended my lugs though so I have only used them for 2 weeks and took them off.

I think they will wear the front suspension faster especially if you wheel it. But I do not know this but have heard others say it.

Never late for a Tee time or wheelin with my buddies! Always ready for both!!!

I ran 1/2" spacers on an 88 2wd dak for 45k miles with no problems... but looking back I know there are better ways around the problem...

Thanks guys, I guess I'll wait and see just how bad the frame rub is, if I can live with it then I probably won't do anything, just wait until I can put on some aftermarket rims with better backspacing. Thanks.
