Subject: 31s or 32s on a 1992 Dakota
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 92 Dakota with a 3" body lift and I am running 30s right now, but I want something bigger. I have seen a stock 92 Dakota with 32s on it. So I am thinking that my Dakota has plenty of wheel well room to run 31s or 32s. The only place that the tire comes close to rubbing is on the front of the tire aganist the frame when steering the tires all the way. So I was thinking if I could find a rim that offsets the tire to the outside of the truck or run wheel spacers I should be ok to run 31s or 32s. But I just need more info to see if this works. Any help.

I had 32x11.50R15 BFG MT KM's on my '93 Dak, with a 3" body lift. I also had the torsion bars cranked about an inch or so, just enough to make the truck sit level. I trimmed just a bit off the backside of the front fenderwells cause they were cutting into the tires offroad. I was running AR 767's, not sure on the backspacing tho, but I didn't have any rubbing on the frame.

LilRipper, Yup, I had 31x10.50's on my '93 stock with no rubbing, so you could get 32's on there stock if you wanted to, but you'd rub, and you'd probably tear up your fenders offroad, but if you just wanted the look you could do it.

Joe, I'll send you a pic in a few, only have one, but you can see how it looks. I only had to trim maybe an inch off, and it was just the sharp corner on the bottom edge.

My 92 is running 31/10.5r15's with 99 dakota 15x8's. There has been no problems what so ever with this combo.

I have a 93 V-8 clubcab with a 2" body lift and I have 31's on the 15x8 newer Dakota wheels. I get a tab bit of rubbing if I am turning sharp in reverse but its only on the black plastic guard under the bumper. The turck sits like a truck now, I like it alot.
