The 4 wheeling places are pretty slim out there too. Everything is posted private property anymore. If you happen to come across anything I love to know.

(also on 4x4icon)

Hey frank thakns for the website. Well i'd be interested in going to one of those places. Man must've been awesome couple weeks back with all the snow we got down here.

What kinda Dakota you got? The thing is i'm looking for an easier sort of trail cuz i only got a 2WD. Its a 96 Ext cab but its lifted and i got 30's All Terrains. Nothing special but i might be purchasing a 3 inch body lift for it. But i want to take it ouot on the trails but dont want to push its limits. Have a good one

That website pretty much covered them, but I would have to check them out to see which ones are open. Backbone Mtn got up to 4 feet of snow in that big storm and there can be some pretty big drifts. All the others should be no problem.
I'm not sure where a couple of the trails on the web site are, because I may know them by another name. If you have any questions just e-mail me at

there is a good place to get muddy in Howard County but its a bit illegal. It is just out of Mount Airy on Hawkins Creamery road. Bottom of the hill before the bridge. there is a turn off and signs that say emergency vehicles only, but not too much harassment. be prepared to scratch the paint off. very tight till you get to the mud. my buddy turned his discovery on its side in a rut. i have an 02 qc 4x4 in columbia.

scott, have you ever been on the popler lick rd./trail? also according to the garrett county trail guide
http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/trailguide/
they only have a few trails for orv use and this is one of them. your input would be helpful.
thanks,

Hey guys. I dont know if you would want to go all the way to central PA but about 40 miles north of Harrisburg is an off road park. (rouschcreekracing.com) Im pretty sure that is the website. Its a pay-park, but its supposed to be pretty sweet. They have trails form stock to extreme.

a guy i work with goes up to cent. pa with his atv. told me the park that he pays to ride in is goign to be opening up an area for trucks. i'll see if i can get the name from him. there are a few pay to play areas up there.
what a shame, that we now have to resort to paying some one to go off road. don't know if the state of md reads this but I WANT FREE AREAS TO RIDE IN!!! why cant they open the fire roads up to the public. what harm would be done. if any thing i guess i could spend money on a permet for rideing to fire trails (in the resvoris) kinda like if i wanted to go to the park down in oc. need a p-mit to run on the beach. why not do the same around the resviors. ok i'm off my soap box.

Hey, look in the yellow pages. There are so many 4x4 shops down by Rockville and Laurel. I think Trick Trucks got a shop out there but just look around. I got my lift put on at 4x4 unlimited. I think it's a one man store but he did it well.Plus window tinting there is only 60 for the front 2 windows. I'm, getting that done soon.

I go to McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland) They got a good football team, and offered me the chance to play, and a lot of academic money (D3 school), so I found my way up here.

Right now all I have is a K&N FIPK and a Gibson swept side. The more spare change I get though the more I'll mod. I think it has a lift on it, but I got it used and I don't know for sure, or how to tell. 1997 5spd 5.2L ext Cab 4x4.

the water crossings are only about a foot deep. I guess they could get deeper in good rain storm. It took me about 20 minutes to go the length of the trail. I was in 1st gear the whole way, just kinda sight seeing.
