I know exactly what your talking about. Dodge should have came out with a off-road package like the did for the Ram. And a solid front axel wouldn't hurt.

I don't think Dodge will ever make a front axle for these trucks. It would be nice but it doesn't seem to be the way these trucks are going. Looks like to me after reading all the new threads and hearing about the news from the auto shows lately the '04 Dak's are going more towards speed than off road.

Wouldn't want any other!

If the Dodge boys don't put a solid axle under it, do it yourself. I did. Check out my profile

It's kinda sad because, Ford, Chevy and Toyota all have off-road packages for their mid-size trucks. TRD, Fx4, and ZR2. While we dodge owners, have to make our own.

i custom made a "off road" decal just like the Ram's and stuck it on my tailgate. People ask if they sell that off road package at the dealership. haha....

yeah a dakota with a setup similar to a zr2 would be nice. I like the height those things have but there a little to high in the back.

but ford chevy and toyota trucks are also more compact trucks then midsize.

I don't see much difference in clearance (except where the tranny skid plate lies which is minimal) compared to the ZR2. A buddy in my unit has an ex-cab ZR2 and compared to my CC Dakota I see no substantial difference except in the power dept! I was sooo close to buying one (I'm a chevy guy) but just couldn't pass up the deal I got on my Dakota.
