Hi guys! I am curious about finding out if anyone else has ever had their Dakota lean after going down a bumpy road.

I took a trip last weekend and went camping and by yesterday my truck was leaning to the right front and its noticeable front and back. There is about a 4 inch differenc on the right from the 9 inches on the left.

If anyone knows what would cause this or what I can check for --please!! let me know asap.

Clarify a little for me, where you are taking your measurements from?

I noticed that my truck does the same thing. I have a 2 wheel drive quad dakota and I hit a bump going a little fast. Ever since then the right front side of the truck is about 2 in lower. The lean can be seen clearly because it cause the bed to be crooked too. I measured the bumper on each side in the back and the right back is higher and then i measured the space between the wheel wells on the front and the right front has more space. It is annoying because it is really noticable. Spring or what?

Raise that side jacking from the frame until the tire is suspended. See if the spring moves by shaking it. I had an older full size(2 whl drive) and that is exactly what happened, the spring had broke.

Something's broke. Like Bill said, probably the spring or torsion bar. If you live where the roads are heavily salted, could even be the frame. Get the suspension up in the air and find out what it is.

It's also possible that the rear spring shackle has gone over center. Happened to me once.

I raised up the side that was leaning and the spring is solid as far as it movin around. I'm not sure if it is broken or not. It still provides a nice ride but could it maybe be weak or something? I have a two wheel drive so no torsion bars so I know that isn't it. I'm really just confused because I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to fix it without buying a new spring.

Are both shackles in the rear facing the same way?

Not quite sure what you mean by this. I'm not a wiz on suspensions lol. May have to explain more to me. :)
